Greetings from The Anchor Pub, located in the Village of Burwell between Newmarket and Cambridge. We are a fairly large, family run pub located on the edge of what we are told is the largest and longest village in the country!

A popular meeting place for visits, locals and even our own local ramblers alike, The Anchor is a warm, friendly, typical country pub. Set in it’s own grounds, it sits on banks of the Burwell Lode. Built in the mid 1500’s, the 450 year old building has seen many changes over the years, both to the building it’s self, the surrounding area and the village as a whole.

It is currently registered as a grade II listed building and part of England’s heritage. With amazing oak beams, low ceilings and different sections, you can easily see why.

Being one of the oldest buildings in the village, there are many stories told about the pub and sitting on the edge of the fens, it’s history is steeped with stories of it’s murky past still told today.

Along with many stories, The Anchor has much to offer its guests. The pub has the big advantage of being able to offer diversity, so whether you have a family, a boat, a dog or just a need to escape, come and see what we have.
